Homework check for parents
Check what your child understood tonight
Umilo turns a photo of the homework page into a five, ten or fifteen question check, then tells you in plain words which ideas your child could handle alone.
The free plan covers one child, five checks and ten photo analyses.
No card to start, no account for your child, and the photo is analyzed once and never stored.
What a check looks like
Every Umilo check is built from the page you photograph, so the questions stay on the same topic and the same kind of task your child was set. These four examples run from grade 2 math to grade 5 grammar.
Grade 2 math: addition with regrouping
What Umilo saw
Umilo saw a page of two-digit addition where the ones column goes past ten.
Concepts read from the page
- Adding two-digit numbers
- Carrying a ten
- Word problems with addition
What your child sees
Question 2 of 5
Sofia has 28 stickers. She gets 15 more. How many stickers does she have now?
Listen
- 33Tried first
- 43Correct answer
- 45
- 313
Yes! You got it.
What comes back to you
Based on these 5 questions
Adding two-digit numbers
Confident in this checkBoth sums without a carry were answered correctly on the first try.
Carrying a ten
Needed a hintThe first answer left out the carried ten, and the next try was correct after the hint.
Word problems with addition
RevisitThe word problem was answered by subtracting, and the answer stayed the same after a second look.
One way to explain it
Line up 28 buttons and 15 buttons, bundle ten loose ones into a stick of ten, and let your child see why the ones column cannot hold 13.Practice this
Practice this builds a new five-question check on carrying a ten and on word problems, and on nothing else.

How it works in four steps
Photograph the page or name the topic
Point your phone at the homework page, or just type the topic. The photo is resized on your phone, read once, and never stored.
Confirm what Umilo saw
Umilo shows the subject, grade and topics it found on the page. Fix anything that is wrong before a single question is written.
Send the link to your child
Choose five, ten or fifteen questions and send the link by WhatsApp, Telegram, Viber, SMS or email. No account, no app.
Read the readout
When the check is done you get one label for each concept, one sentence of evidence, and one way to explain what slipped.
What your child sees
Your child opens one link on any phone and answers one question per screen, with no timer, no score, no ads, and a hint before any wrong answer. The page holds the check and nothing else.
- No timer. Nothing counts down while your child is thinking.
- No score. There is no percentage and no pass or fail at the end.
- A hint comes first. A wrong tap brings a hint and one more try, never a red cross.
- A listen button reads the question aloud in the language of the check.
- No ads, no sign-up and no chat. There is nothing else on the page to tap.
- About five minutes. Five questions on a phone are over before the mood turns.
What you get back
A readout in plain words
Each concept from the page gets one of three labels: confident in this check, needed a hint, or revisit. One sentence says what happened, and nothing is turned into a percentage.
One way to explain it
For every concept worth another look, Umilo writes one short example you can use at the kitchen table. It explains the idea, and it does not solve tonight's homework for anyone.
A follow-up built from what slipped
One tap builds a new check from the concepts that needed a hint or another look. It never rebuilds the whole worksheet, and it never works from an overall score.
A timeline for each child
Every child has a timeline showing how one concept was labeled in check after check. Three labels over three weeks tell you more than any single evening can.
One way to explain it
When the ones column is too small, take one ten apart into ten ones, then subtract. Say it out loud with counters: 63 becomes 5 tens and 13 ones. The same concept across checks
Umilo keeps one line per concept for each child, so you can see whether carrying a ten went from revisit, to needed a hint, to confident across three separate checks. There is no chart and no percentage.

Word problems
Umilo sees only the checks you send, so this is a record of those evenings and nothing more. It does not see class work, tests or grades, and it never compares your child with anyone.
Free and Family
Umilo has two plans: Free costs nothing, covers one child and needs no card, while Family is $9.99 per month and covers up to four children. There is no free trial, because the free plan is the trial.

Questions parents ask
How can I tell if my child actually understood their homework?
Umilo builds a short check from the homework page you photograph and asks your child the same ideas again without the page in front of them, so you see what they can do alone. Correct homework you helped with proves nothing on its own.
Is there an app that turns a homework photo into a quiz?
Umilo turns a photo of a homework page into a quiz of five, ten or fifteen tap-only questions, aimed at the grade you choose, anywhere from kindergarten to grade 12. You can also skip the photo and type the topic instead. Questions are written in English or Ukrainian.
Does my child need an account?
No, your child needs nothing but the link you send, which opens in any phone browser with no account, no password, no app and no email address. The link works for 30 days, and you can stop it at any time from your readout page.
Is it safe to photograph my child's homework?
The photo is resized in your browser, read once, and never stored by Umilo, so a page with your child's handwriting on it does not sit on a server. You record consent for each child profile, the child page sets no tracking cookies, and the details are on the privacy page.
Will it give my child the answers?
No, Umilo never shows a worked solution: a wrong tap brings a hint and one more try, and only after that does your child see the correct answer with a two-sentence explanation. The homework page itself is never solved.
How long does a homework check take?
A five-question Umilo check takes about five minutes on a phone, and you can choose ten or fifteen questions when you want a longer one. No timer runs on your child's screen, and the readout reaches you as soon as the last question is answered.
What is the difference between a homework solver and a homework check?
A homework solver gives the answer to the problem in front of it, while Umilo gives none and instead asks your child new questions about the same ideas, then reports which ones held. A solver helps whoever is stuck on the page. A check tells you what is left once the page is gone.
Can I use it if the homework is in a language I don't speak?
Umilo writes every check and every readout in English or Ukrainian, whichever you pick, so the result reaches you in a language you read even when the page your child brought home is in another one. Photo reading works best on a clear page, and you can always type the topic instead.
How much does it cost?
Umilo is free for one child, five checks and ten photo analyses, and the paid Family plan is $9.99 per month for up to four children and 250 checks per billing period. There is no free trial and no card is needed to start.
Why I built this
My name is [PLACEHOLDER: founder name]. I built Umilo because a finished worksheet tells a parent almost nothing: it can be done with help, copied or guessed, and it still comes back with a tick on it. Umilo is the smallest honest thing I could build to answer one question, which is whether the child could do it again alone.
No card to start, no account for your child, and the photo is analyzed once and never stored.
